Hajj
Hajj is one of the Five Pillars of Islam and is a mandatory pilgrimage that every able-bodied and financially capable Muslim must undertake at least once in their lifetime. It occurs annually during the Islamic month of Dhu al-Hijjah and involves a journey to the holy city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia. Hajj includes a series of rituals, such as the Tawaf (circumambulation) around the Kaaba, standing at the plain of Arafat, and symbolic stoning of the devil at Mina.
Umrah
Umrah is a pilgrimage to Mecca that can be undertaken at any time of the year, unlike Hajj, which has specific dates. While Umrah is not obligatory, it holds significant spiritual value for Muslims. The rituals of Umrah include entering the state of Ihram, performing Tawaf around the Kaaba, Sa’i (walking seven times between the hills of Safa and Marwah), and shaving or trimming the hair. Unlike Hajj, Umrah is shorter in duration and involves fewer rites.
